The Yeovil Neighbourhood Network Breakfast, hosted at MIND Somerset in Yeovil, brought together diverse professionals from various sectors. This event was coordinated by Connect Somerset Champions Natasha Rand and Alex Priest, aiming to enhance collaboration among those serving children, young people, families, and the community.

The event successfully attracted 85 participants from education, health, and Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sectors, as well as various community groups.

A highlight of the breakfast was the presentation by Ali Walker from Gloucester Gateway Trust. Walker provided valuable insights into the journey of Gloucester County regarding community partnership, the evolution of children’s centers, and the socio-economic impact of Gloucestershire services in the region, particularly along the M5 corridor.

To encourage meaningful dialogue, attendees were invited to reflect on three key questions regarding the development of relationships across sectors. These questions focused on how the network can enhance early help initiatives and the benefits of promoting a culture of connection throughout Yeovil and its surrounding areas.

The purpose of these questions was to create a dynamic networking environment where participants could share their expertise and help shape the agenda for future Connect Somerset initiatives.

The event garnered positive feedback from attendees, and the responses to the posed questions were compiled into a seven-point plan. This plan will guide future discussions and initiatives, ensuring that community needs are effectively addressed.

The next Neighbourhood Breakfast is scheduled for 8th May from 9 AM to 11 AM at MIND Somerset and future dates include 25th September and 29th January 27. The focus will be on mapping community provisions for children and young people. An Eventbrite link will be made available for registration.

The Yeovil Neighbourhood Network Breakfast exemplifies the power of collaboration among local professionals and organizations. By facilitating connections and conversations, the network aims to strengthen support systems for children, young people, and families in Yeovil and surrounding areas.
