About our neighbourhood

Welcome to the Yeovil Neighbourhood Team page. My name is Natasha Rand, and I’m the Connect Somerset Champion for Yeovil. I work with Yeovil Arts Space.

Yeovil, the largest town in South Somerset, has a population of around 50,000 residents. Notably, five of its wards rank among the top 20% most deprived areas in the country. The town experiences a higher-than-average number of students eligible for Pupil Premium, as well as a significant proportion of residents for whom English is a second language. Additionally, Yeovil has an ageing population, prompting local businesses to prioritise issues related to recruitment and employee retention.

There is a robust community interest in nurturing young people and attracting families to the area. The town is characterised by abundant green spaces, including a country park and planned green areas as part of ongoing town centre regeneration efforts. Furthermore, Yeovil has a large network of community organisations and engaged residents who are motivated to work together on social placemaking and community action initiatives.
