Introduction

The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to use their government-funded mobility allowance to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair.

The Scheme is open to anyone who receives one of the following benefits, and has at least 12 months’ award length remaining when they apply

• Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance
• War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement

Non-drivers can apply for a car as a passenger, nominating two other people as drivers, and a parent or carer can apply on behalf of a child aged 3 or older.
