Bridgwater was buzzing with creativity, conversation and collaboration this week as partners from across the local community came together for a Neighbourhood Working Workshop.

Held as part of the Connect Somerset programme, the event brought together schools, health professionals, Bridgwater Town Council, FIS, housing, local services, and community organisations to explore how we can work more relationally — building stronger connections and more responsive support, right at the heart of our neighbourhoods.

From rich pictures to a priorities task (and even a surprise art lesson, which Rob said he absolutely loved!), the room was full of energy and enthusiasm. Together, we mapped out the strengths of our community and started shaping shared priorities that matter most to local people.
Two strong themes emerged from the session — community safety and knowledge/education. A third priority is still open for discussion, and we’re keen to hear more from those who couldn’t attend on what that should be.

Check out some of the rich pictures created during the session and a collection of postcards and one word representing how people are feeling about neighbourhood working.
This is all part of our work to build a new kind of local support system —based on real relationships, deep trust, and community-led change. We’re moving away from siloed services and towards neighbourhoods where people know each other, work together, and have the tools to thrive.

Big thanks to everyone who came along, rolled up their sleeves, and shared their ideas. We’re already looking forward to the next session — watch this space for details!
