“The greatest gift you can give your baby is a happy and strong relationship between the two of you.” John Gottman

Becoming a parent is life-changing—and so is the impact it can have on your relationship.

Babies and toddlers can sense tension between parents which can have a negative impact on them, causing behaviour issues, disrupted sleep, feeding and longer-term issues.

This practical, supportive course is designed to help you, as a couple, navigate the changes that come with welcoming a baby and parenting a toddler.

It is a 4-week pilot online course delivered by Ruth James, Reducing Parental Conflict Coordinator, Somerset Council who has experience of with working with couples to strengthen family relationships.

The 4 online sessions will be 1½ hours and cover:

  • The transition to parenthood and getting use to a new normal.
  • Top tips on how to talk so your partner will listen and listen so they will talk
  • Managing conflict and building a strong team as you navigate parenting together
  • Day-to-day parenting and problem solving together

The dates are: 15th/ 22nd October and 5th/ 12th November 10 AM – 11:30 AM

During the course you will learn how to:

  • Communicate more effectively
  • Manage conflict in healthy ways
  • Build a secure, loving environment for your baby/toddler
  • Practical tools to help you survive together when things are tough

You will also meet other parents and sharing experiences and learning from each other can be a great help.

Who is this course for? This course is FREE and for any parents, co-parents, or caregivers of children up to the age of 3 who live in Somerset.

Ideally, couples should come along together, however, if only one of you can come along, that’s fine too.
